THE AFTERLIFE OF J EDGAR HOOVER (2017)

This production was an intimate yet mysterious visit with the famous FBI director, now dead of course, and his young “caretaker,” also dead. "THE AFTERLIFE OF J EDGAR HOOVER" left you thinking about choices and consequences. This is the work of imaginative Australian playwright, Timothy Daly, whose "KAFKA DANCES" and "MAN IN THE ATTIC" have also played in Anchorage. Directed by Dick Reichman, "THE AFTERLIFE OF J EDGAR HOOVER" featured Jay Burns as Hoover and Jeremy Gaunt as a young valet. Presented by Cyrano's Theatre Company and RKP Productions.

Two Jews Walk Into A War (2018)

"Two Jews Walk into a War..." ran weekends at Anchorage Community Theatre in October 2018. This dark comedy written by Seth Rozin is about contemporary Jewish diaspora. The play is based on news stories about the last two Jews who remained in war-torn Kabul, Afghanistan during the period of Taliban terrorism. They'd known each other since childhood but had never liked each other. Rozin, inspired by the story, crafted a play in which two people

attempt to work together, to keep the diaspora alive, in spite of their mutual disaffection. Rozin's play is filled with humor, sorrow, determination, and survival, and gives us all something to think about. RKP Productions founders ( Dick Reichman and Audrey and Bruce Kelly) were proud to present this timely production and believe that Robert Pond, RKP Productions co-founder who past last year, would agree. All RKP Productions are dedicated to the memory of Robert Pond to honor his many contributions to theatre in Anchorage Ak. "Two Jews Walk into a War" is directed by Janet Stoneburner, and features Dick Reichman as Ishaq, and Mark Stoneburner as Zeblyan. Costumes by Janice Jones and Props by Ilona Wright set the stage.

The Old Woman Who Lost Her Voice (2019)

Once upon a time, in a land not too far from here, there lived an old woman ... who lost her voice. She didn't lose her voice suddenly. It happened over time. In fact, it happened so slowly that at first no one even noticed. Jill Bess' new play is the story of an old woman, named Galena, who wakes up one day unable to speak. A cast of eight play 20 different roles in this sometimes comedy, sometimes drama, sometimes wrenching heartache of a story. "The Old Woman Who Lost Her Voice" is a modern-day fairy tale that speaks to anyone who has ever felt silenced.

The Ice Maiden poster 2019.jpg

The Ice Maiden (2019)

"The Ice Maiden" features a Hollywood attorney and an aspiring starlet who wants to sue a producer for alleged sexual misconduct. There are no clear, or simple, answers in this #MeToo situation. Is the actress lying or is there truth in what she says? The attorney is determined to find out and

discovers some truths about herself along the way. This world premiere written by Timothy Daly and directed by Dick Reichman emphasizes both the difficulty of public and personal resolution and the moral ambiguity of these issues.

The Roadhouse Trilogy (2020)
     — A presentation via YouTube during COVID-19

COVID-19 can't stop good theater!

All that is required is a little thinking outside-the-box and a willingness to stretch the stage across a thousand square miles of internet.

Taking place all across Alaska, The Roadhouse Trilogy follows the stories of three lodges in various stages of life, at times mirthful, meloncholy and meditative, playwright Dick Reichman's script manage to reach across the void and find the specks humanity in the wilderness.

And you can still check them out!

Out to Lunch (2023)

RKP Productions and Anchorage Community theatre present

OUT TO LUNCH, A POLITICAL COMEDY

Written by Dick Reichman

The setting is a city council meeting in an unnamed small town. The mayor expects a quick vote from the 6-member city council to decide if they should accept the offer of free covid vaccine for the community. But every council member has a different reason why they should or should not vote yes. Every conspiracy theory we’ve heard these last few years about vaccines, fake news, government takeover, Bill Gates and more becomes part of the ensuing dialog, some of which is bitingly funny. But like a good comedy, there is an undercurrent of sadness as we realize how ineffective

the government has become and how the democratic process doesn’t always work well.

Lifespan of a Fact poster 2024.png

The Lifespan of A Fact (2024)

A literary magazine plans to publish a piece written by a well known, talented author. The task of fact checking the piece before it goes to print falls to an obsessive "fresh-out-of-Harvard" intern who avidly scrutinizes every statement. The demanding editor believes this piece will increase readership of the failing magazine and wants the article ready to go -now. The big questions regarding truth beg the question, "What is truth anyway?"

Presented by RKP Productions and Anchorage Community TheatreJan 2024

Written by Jeremy Kareken & David Murrell & Gorden Farrell

From the book by Jim Fingal and John D'Agata

Directed by Dick Reichman
